Our British Staunton draws inspiration from a vintage design originating from the old British Chess Company in the mid-1800s. Featuring purely traditional Staunton features, the pieces are handcrafted one piece at a time just like they were over a hundred and twenty years ago. This is a thirty-four-piece set that includes two extra queens for pawn promotion. The king is 4 inch-tall with base diameter of 1.625 inch making it the perfect set for tournament chess games. The pieces are heavily weighted for exceptional stability and have thick green baize pads on the bottom for a soft cushion on the chessboard. A Certificate of Manufacture is included so you will always know what the pieces are, when they were made, and where they came from.
